Best ever Salty Dog! They make them with fresh squeezed grapefruit. The service is great and the atmosphere is eclectic and probably hasn't changed since the 50's. Close to the bike trail and they even provide parking! BRING CASH or Pay to use their ATM.

Great, nice people both as patrons and staff. 55 chili dogs on Sat morning. Fresh squeezed oranges in the screwdrivers. Super clean for a bar and a nice diverse crowd. Highly recommended.

This is a fun little bar if you're headed to a concert at Val Air. It's full of regulars But we didn't feel judged as outsiders as we walked in. It's an old building with a dive bar feel But there are certain things that make it feel like someone really cares. For example the drinks like screwdrivers and greyhounds are made with fresh squeezed juice, the bartender rotates the glasses, and everyone has greeted as they walk in the door. The only downside is that it's a cash only bar and the ATM was down so we had to leave.

There are just certain places that have been there forever and still remain one of "those spots" to go experience. I have loved this place since I first visited probably a decade ago. They are cash only so have some on hand or be prepared to use the ATM. They use fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juice for their screwdrivers, greyhounds, etc. The juice is awesome and something they are just known for. Their margaritas are pretty good too. They do pour pretty heavy so be prepared. The free popcorn is always the right amount of oil and salt ans the bowls they provide are generous. They did have a food truck outside of the patio, but we did not partake. All in all this is another Des Moines establishment I hope to be able to go to 10 or 20 years from now. A unique little spot.
